Mark's Guestbook
These thoughts were submitted to Mark's on-line guestbook between March 15, 2005 and April 14, 2005.

Mark was truly a bright light that came into our office. He will be missed deeply. I used to run into him at Gold's Gym and his personality was always positive and energetic. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and a special Angel now watches over you.

Kelly Carlson (Folsom, CA)

Maureen,

The news of Mark's passing was very hard to understand and accept. I met you and Mark while our daughters attended pre-school at the Teddy Bear Inn. My daughter Alyssa's last time seeing Morgan was at this past February's Father Daughter Dance. My husband clearly remembers the fun and love Mark had sharing this special evening with Morgan. It is memories like these and many others that will help keep Mark remembered as a devoted father, husband, brother, friend, son and community member. May the thoughts and prayers of others be with you and your family throughout these years.

Sarah Closson (El Dorado Hills, CA)

I met Mark in June of 2000. Mark had just hired on with Legacy as the Northern California Sales Manager. He was full of energy and enthusiastic to grow the business. He brought exceptional knowledge and energy with a positive attitude that will be impossible to replace. Mark and I became more than co-workers, we became friends. We often had the opportunity to work together and would end the day with a beer and a good laugh. I miss Mark. My heart felt sympathy goes to his parents, Maureen and Mark's children.

Rod Ritchie (Murrieta, CA)

To the family of Mark,

My heart aches for all of you. However, it has to make you smile knowing that Mark is full of bliss in heaven since he is probably doing nothing but skiing...

Mark was the first person to teach me how to waterski, 20 some years ago when my ex-stepfather, Reed Martin took us to visit him.  He was a wonderful man full of life and nothing but BIG smiles. I feel so blessed that I had the chance to know him. He touched many lives!!!!

I am thinking of you all.

My staff and I had the privilege to know Mark and met with him the day before this tragedy. His wonderful sense of humor and love of you and the kids (which he never quit talking about) was a refreshing change from most individuals in this industry. Just have comfort in knowing that although he may not have been at home with you, you and the kids were with him at all times. Mark enriched the lives of those he came into contact with and I am convinced it was due to the love that he had for all of you. Your family will be in our hearts and our prayers during this time.

See poem below:

I'M FREE
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lenghten it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Maria Powell (Cleveland, OH)
